Sixth Form at Notre Dame

Ready to begin your journey?

Welcome from the Head of Sixth Form

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Notre Dame High School Sixth Form. We offer you the opportunity to study in a vibrant, friendly and highly successful school with strong Christian values and outstanding teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do. Notre Dame is a warm and welcoming community with students joining us from around 35 different secondary schools each year. We are a comprehensive and inclusive Sixth Form and welcome students from all backgrounds.

Our Sixth Form draws on a tradition of excellence in education first established in 1855 by the Sisters of Notre Dame. We blend a deep sense of heritage with cutting edge educational practice and are extremely proud of OFSTED’s assessment of our Sixth Form as Outstanding in all areas.

We offer 26 subjects for study at A level taught by well qualified and experienced teachers who are deeply committed to helping you meet the demands of your studies. With an emphasis on supportive pastoral care you will be part of a form group with daily contact from your personal tutor to help ensure you make the best of your time with us.

With no exam data in 2020, our 2019 A level examination results show that our students respond well to our high standards and expectations.

  • 99% = Pass rate
  • A*- B = 56%
  • A*- C = 79%
  • Level 3 Value added progress measure was significantly positive at +0.19

Once again, the destinations of our Y13 leavers continue to be a particular strength of Notre Dame Sixth Form. Year on year we enjoy 100% purposeful progression. In 2020:

  • 78% were successful in gaining a place at University.
  • 18% of our students took a gap year with a view to applying to University for 2021 entry.
  • 4% of students took other progression routes including employment and apprenticeship.
  • 43% of the students who were successful in gaining a place at a University have done so at one of the Russell Group Universities.
  • 6 students gained a place at Oxford or Cambridge
  • 9 students gained a place studying medicine, veterinary or dentistry.

We set appropriate entrance requirements (see below). Once you accept an offer to join us we will arrange for you to meet with our own careers advisor who will offer individual advice about the subject combinations that will give you the greatest chance of success at our school.

Notre Dame is a wonderful place to continue your education beyond Year 11. I do hope that you take the next step in deciding to become a part of our Sixth Form community.

Best wishes for your GCSE exams this year.
